General Foreman (Universal)

Position Summary

The General Foreman is responsible for the supervision of work crews in the timely and safe completion of assigned projects. This position is deemed safety sensitive due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee s co-workers, and/or the public at large.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of work crews engaged in erecting, fabricating, and installing structural steel.
• Communicate with customers to organize work details and solve problems.
• Organize, lead, and train employees to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframe.
• Prepare performance reviews, warning/counseling reports, and separation reports for crew.
• Responsible for adhering to all company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations.
• The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.

Qualifications

Minimum of three years experience as a Foreman in various crafts. Must have good oral communication skills, able to organize, and plan work in a timely manner. Must have basic math skills and be able to read/understand structural drawings.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift at least 100 pounds often on the job and climb to heights of at least 300 feet. Must be able to pull body weight with the weight of a tool belt when climbing steel bracing, ladders, scaffolding, etc. Job requires bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, and pulling. May be exposed to temperature fluctuations. Must be able to tolerate a dusty and noisy work environment. Must be able to be around high voltage electromagnetic fields.
