Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for document control of all shipping, as well as administrative and clerical support to the department. This position is deemed safety sensitive due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee s co-workers, and/or the public at large.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates with Shipping Manager and Shop Supervisor for all scheduling and expediting of freight by truck to and from subcontractors and job sites.
- Performs various supportive administrative and clerical duties
- Adheres to all company safety and OSHA regulations.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Must have good mathematical skills and general knowledge of structural shapes. Should have the aptitude to operate forklifts and overhead cranes. Must be familiar with AISC requirements regarding marking and placement of materials. Excellent organizational skills.
Physical Demands
Requires considerable amounts of standing on your feet. Must be able to lift 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Requires the ability to climb, stoop, bend, etc. Overtime and weekend work required as needed. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
