Job Summary
To provide direct supervision for all staff technologists and clerical personnel on a day to day basis, as assigned. Responsible for scheduling of personnel, repairs and work progress within the area.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education: Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology
Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Years of progressive supervisory experience with emphasis on planning, directing, training, and scheduling radiology employees
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Registered by ARRT, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Required Training: Registered by ARRT, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Current South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association license
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates ability to train technical staff to provide developmentally appropriate care/treatment for the following patient population:
- Infant (Birth to 1 year)
- Child (1 year to 12 years)
- Adolescent (13 years through 17 years)
- Adult (18 years to 65 years)
- Geriatric (over 65 years)
- Supervises day to day operations of all imaging departments at CMC and maintains standards of quality.
- Responsible for direction of technologists and clerical employees with regard to schedules, work areas and quality.
- Responsible for counseling employees regarding performance, conduct, work schedules, attendance and other matters.
- Mediates individual problems and unresolved problems relating to staffing morale, scheduling, work methods, procedures, salary adjustments, discipline, transfers, Radiologist concerns and other actions regarding assigned personnel.
- Interprets and ensures hospital and departmental policies are followed where applicable to personnel assigned.
- Acts on departmental matters and problems as required.
- Evaluates effectiveness of work methodologies, recommends changes and implements process improvements with director's approval.
- Responsible for training of technical and ancillary personnel.
- Works directly with director on major departmental projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Works with other department representatives concerning procedural problems.
- Develops and maintains a harmonious work environment and ensures that employees project a positive image of the hospital.
- Exhibits effective interpersonal skills providing direction and assistance to assigned personnel in the development of these skills.
- Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians, and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous and considerate manner.
- Works closely with Radiologists to ensure a smooth departmental operation.
- Participates in evaluation and application of equipment and space needs and budget preparation.
- Oversees process improvement goals for assigned personnel while providing individual guidance.
- Performs time and attendance for the Imaging departments to ensure their worked hours are accurate to receive the correct pay.
- Oversees the scheduling of all staff members in each modality to ensure that the needs of patient care are being met.
- Performs and instructs employee's duties as necessarily required in an emergency, e.g. fire or disaster.
- Supervises day to day operations of imaging departments to ensure departmental needs are being met in regards to the clinical operation of that modality.
- Attends continuing educational workshops, seminars and/or formal schools for job enrichment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
