Akkodis is seeking an Automation Project Engineer for a leading manufacturer of electronic, electrical, and fiber optic connectivity systems.
The key responsibility of the Project Engineer is to design and develop automated machinery and tooling to support the mass production of high-speed cables and connectors. The Project Engineer will lead the machine development process including sourcing equipment, quoting, mechanical design and adhering to the project delivery schedule. This person will oversee the entire project from initial concept through transition to global mass production sites. The core projects will be focused on automation and deployment of full manufacturing solutions.
The Automation Project Engineer serves as an expert resource to production and maintenance on new equipment and system installation.
Pay range: 60.00-65.00 per hour. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity (6 months)!
This role is onsite in either Little Rock, AR or Chicago, IL.

What You Will Do:
- Provide assembly feasibility and cost estimates for new product development.
- Collaborate with engineering to set design completion dates.
- Design cable manufacturing machinery using Siemens NX CAD software.
- Assist in developing and executing machine qualification plans.
- Offer technical support for equipment launches by the Automation Team.
- Travel for machine installation, qualification, and training at production facilities.
- Participate in Design Reviews and PFMEA’s to improve automation designs.
- Track projects, summarizing costs, labor, and lead times.
- Develop BOMs and spare tooling lists.
- Ensure projects meet internal procedures, TQM, IS/QS-9000 requirements.
- Adhere to Six Sigma, ISO, and EH&S standards.
- 3 years Machine Design Experience.
- Skilled in simulations, prototypes, and end-to-end design.
- Experienced in project management and meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD software.
- Conducted testing, analyzed results, and implemented corrections.
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Technology.
