We are looking for a Buyer with expertise in food manufacturing to procure raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials necessary for our client’s production processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the food industry supply chain, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record of securing competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. This is a Direct Hire opportunity near Woodridge, IL.

Responsibilities:

• Source and procure raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials from approved suppliers in accordance with production schedules and quality requirements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including production, quality assurance, and inventory management teams, to forecast demand and identify procurement needs.
• Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to anticipate potential supply chain disruptions and proactively mitigate risks.
• Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Manage inventory levels to optimize working capital while minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
• Participate in cross-functional teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and drive cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to procurement activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, ingredients, and packaging materials.
• Proven negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with procurement software systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar certification is a plus.

• Pay is $55k- $65k depending on experience
