LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a Payroll Specialist for a Contract Opportunity in Carmichael, California. In this role, you will lead efforts to provide accurate and timely payroll for more than 250 employees. Ideally you will have a strong understanding of payroll regulations, excellent numerical proficiency, and exceptional attention to detail.
PLEASE NOTE: All duties for this role are performed on-site at the client’s office in Carmichael, California.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll for employees accurately and timely using payroll software (ADP).
· Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
· Maintain and update employee payroll records, including changes in salary, benefits, tax withholdings, and deductions.
· Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including federal, state, and local tax deposits and returns.
· Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, including pay discrepancies, tax questions, and deductions.
· Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
· Stay up-to-date with payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
· Assist with payroll-related projects and initiatives as needed.
· Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure accurate processing of payroll data.
DESIRED SKILLS & BACKGROUND
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
· Proven experience working as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
· Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
· Proficiency in using payroll software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
· Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
