Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist to join our client's team in the east valley! The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of payroll and accounts payable processing experience. Certified payroll and construction industry experience is highly desirable. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our client's employees as well as handling certified payroll functions as needed. This is a long term, onsite opportunity in Mesa. The hours are Monday through Thursday between 7am - 4:30pm and Friday 7am - 11:30PM. Compensation is between $60k - $75k DOE.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll accurately and on time for employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll laws and regulations, especially those related to multi-state payroll processing.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of certified payroll reports as required for government contracts.
- Collaborate with HR and accounting departments to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting.
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing.
- Review and reconcile credit card statements, vendor invoices, and expense reports to ensure accuracy.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and foster strong professional relationships.
- Assist in financial reporting and support audit processes.
- Manage accounts payable for multiple entities and vendors, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Verify purchase orders, pricing, payment terms, and additional charges for accuracy.
- Process bills and payroll promptly while following established departmental procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in payroll processing and accounts payable
- Experience with Spectrum a plus
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with certified payroll processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Certification:
Certification in payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional - CPP) is highly desirable but not required.
Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
