The Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and services required for the company’s operations. This role involves negotiating with suppliers, evaluating products and services, and maintaining strong vendor relationships to support the company’s operational needs and goals. This is a great opportunity located in Joliet, IL.

Responsibilities:
- Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
- Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products and services.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Develop and implement strategies for cost reduction, efficiency, and improved quality.
- Work closely with inventory management to maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure that all purchase requests are accurately fulfilled.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
- Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses.
- Continuously seek out and implement best practices in procurement.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in purchasing techniques and technology.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
- Minimum of a year of experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- Monday- Friday, onsite
- Pay is $23-$28 an hour, depending on experience
