RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Supervising and Leading Employees: Oversee daily operations including personnel, plant equipment, and mobile equipment to meet production goals effectively and efficiently. Direct and provide support for quarry team members. This may include tasks such as headcount review, revising performance standards, employee selection or hiring, utilizing progressive discipline, employee development, training assessments, and timekeeping. Design and implement processes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the quarry department. Communicate mining performance highlights to plant manager, regional support, and corporate M&E as needed. Be a positive leader who encourages cross-functional communication and collaboration throughout the site. Mining Support: Responsible in supporting all reclamation activities at the quarry site. Capable of learning surveying and mapping to support the Quarry Manager with mine engineering duties. This includes high aptitude for learning CAD and GPS surveying equipment. Participation in the development of the 5-Year mine plan. Timely completion of Annual Material Movement (AMM) plans. Coordinate with corporate M&E and Quarry Manager on planning to ensure timely completion of quarry budgets (mining and crushing), in Lowest Sustainable Mining Cost (LSMC) format. Monthly LSMC review and reporting, variances understood, and cost improvement plans supported. Monthly mining KPIs reviewed and reported, variances explained, and performance improvement plans developed with the support of the Quarry Manager. Annual Theoretical Best Cost (TBC) to LSMC comparisons. Mining improvement opportunities identified and reviewed. Continuous Improvement (CI) program recommendations submitted to optimize performance (KPIs) and costs (LSMC). Ensure mine Quality Control (QC) process/practices are integrated and implemented to meet corporate QC core initiatives. Facilitate planning to support projects at the quarry / crushing plant. Provide feedback to drive and leverage new opportunities within or between existing operations. Capable of passing the Unmanned Aircraft Pilot’s Exam. Required for flying the survey drone. Environmental, Health, Safety: Ensure a safe workplace and regulatory compliance with Federal (MSHA), state, local, and Company policies. Be a leader and promoter of our safety culture. Ensure employees have a clear understanding of expected safety performance and the required training. Ensure proper training programs are implemented for new employees. Ensure an environmentally compliant workplace adhering to all Federal (EPA), state (ADEQ), local, and company policies. Support Environmental Health and Safety initiatives, trainings, and awareness programs. Actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety and environmental compliance at the site. ATTRIBUTES: Strong compliance and safety driven. Knowledgeable of manufacturing processes in a related industry. Strong quality and ISO 9001 conscience. Effective planning and organizational skills. Self-motivated and must be able to work independently. Effective leadership and problem-solving skills, including experience managing direct reports. Ability and willingness to create a strong sense of teamwork, drive for results/improvement and organization cohesiveness. Good communication skills-both written and verbal. Demonstrated skills entering and retrieving data in a Microsoft based computer system. Collaborative team member willing to support the operation as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Must be physically able to perform work assigned. Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations. Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels. Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment. The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles. The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelors’ degree in Mine Engineering, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A minimum five (5) years’ experience in surface mine management. PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: Leadership or previous supervisory experience.
