POSITION SUMMARY: Performs routine work assisting the Control Room Operator to regulate and control smooth operations of all equipment within the plant. Effectively interface with the Control Room Operator to be apprised of operating conditions and be able to respond effectively to upset conditions or instrument failures. Uses constant visual checks to inform the operator of problems, and assisting in relinquishing problems under the supervision of the operator. Also, the attendant will perform Quality Control tests to help ensure the quality of products being manufactured; and perform all other tasks not specifically indicated.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
1. Must comply with company, state and governmental health and safety regulations, policies and procedures at all times.
2. Check water pumps and water flow for proper functioning.
3. Safe and efficient operations of all equipment at the O’Neal Plant
4. Must be able to learn proper operating procedures for the hydrators and associated equipment.
5. Must be able to complete the daily shift reports, pre-shift inspections and downtime log involving operating time and environmental information for the Hydrator and Ball Mill, kiln circuits and other associated equipment.
6. Must be able to measure feed and product bins and list quantity of material in bins on the daily report.
7. Must be able to recognize dust collector problems and initiate repairs if needed.
8. Need to recognize and support proper emissions control for all potential emission sources within the plant (such as dust collectors , transition points and loading spouts), and know how to operate Merrick weigh belt scales controller.
9. Maintains and checks spray compressors, bag houses, all feed chutes, elevators, etc.
10. Maintain and check spray compressors & N3 lances, baghouses, pollution control equipment, all feed chutes, rams, elevators, etc.
11. Must be able to operate any mobile equipment as assigned (i.e. front-end loader, bobcat, and forklift) both safely and efficiently.
12. Conducts Quality Control test on a routine and as needed basis to ensure proper quality
13. Keeps water pumped from all sumps in the plant.
14. Cleans hopper area, bins, and conveyors, and unclogs and cleans up plug-ups throughout the plant.
15. Helps clean out material from under conveyors and catwalks and other areas within the plant.
16. Ensures that the different types of products are conveyed into the appropriate bins.
17. Checks kiln bearings and water flow through these bearings.
18. Maintains coal mill discharge and scrapes area clean.
19. Checks auxiliary engine for proper amounts of fuel, oil, etc. and ensures operational condition.
20. Keeps belts and rollers on belt scales clean.
21. Perform related work and clean-up duties assigned.
22. Remains on shift until properly relieved by replacement.
23. Reports promptly any potential operational or safety problem to supervision.
24. Performs all work assigned in relation to this work in a neat and orderly manner.
25. Completes all equipment check sheets and inspections as required.
26. Must perform all tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
27. Perform other duties as assigned..

• Must know, understand and observe all department and plant safety rules and maintain a high level of housekeeping in assigned work areas.
• Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required of this job.
Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:
• Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
• Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
• Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.
• The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles.
• The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
• Ability to occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds.
Required Experience: Previous heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred. Previous heavy equipment experience is desired.
Required Education: High school diploma or GED Equivalent.
