The Library Associate 3 role is the senior role in the Library Associate job family. The primary responsibilities of the Library Associate 3 / Adult Assistant at Simi Valley Public are to Library are to provide reference and circulation service, assist the Adult Services Librarian with collection management and programs, and manage Community Room reservations.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
• Provides customer service to patrons by greeting, providing tours and assisting patrons in all
areas of the library
• Participates on the Library Operations team.
• Works closely with Adult Services Librarian and library management to plan, implement and promote
programming activities
• Shelves new and returned library materials
• Informs library patrons of rules of conduct as necessary, and enforce those rules when appropriate
• Supervises Library Associate 2 staff members one or more weekend or evening shifts per week, overseeing opening or closing procedures
• Answers reference and simple technology questions at the reference desk
• Manages the Community Room reservation system
• Knows and understands the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read
Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental
tenet of a public library.
• Follows all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron
records
• Other duties as assigned
