What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Control position at Life Outreach International?

Compile records concerned with receiving, storing, issuing and shipping materials, supplies and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compile data from sources such as purchase orders, invoices and requisitions, to prepare receiving reports of material received, stocked and issued.
  • Compare information on requisitions, invoices and shipping notices to material received or issued to verify accuracy of order.
  • Examine stock when received to verify conformance to specifications. Notify leaders if any issues with item.
  • Mark identifying codes, figures or letters on articles and stock.
  • Distribute stock among departments, keeping records of materials issued.
  • Determine methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities and required space.
  • Maintain inventory and other stock records.
  • Prepare periodic, special or perpetual inventory of stock.
  • Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving and excess stock.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Any project deemed necessary by management.

  • Type 25 wpm
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to step up into a bobtail truck cab and box
  • Ability to drive bobtail truck
  • Postal knowledge helpful
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Personal computer knowledge helpful
  • Strong analytical thought process needed to resolve problems
  • Needs strong organizational skills with the ability to plan ahead and be resourceful
  • Must be able to work unsupervised using time management skills, to accomplish goals in a timely manner and be self-motivated showing initiative.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous inventory experience is helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as internal shipping documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job:

  • The employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop and kneel, climb, crouch and crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Using a pallet jack move skid of items weighing up to 1,000 lbs.
  • Regularly required to move APC’s (All Purpose Container) weighing up to 500 lbs. These APC’s are filled with product packages. Load APC’s on and off of the mail truck, pushing them into the Mail Center or onto the post office dock.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud.

Salary : $31,300 - $39,600
