Material Services Specialist - Lifeline of Ohio

Description

Major Role:

Consistent with the mission, vision and values of Lifeline of Ohio, orders, maintains and inventories critical supplies and materials used to make donation happen for the Organ, Perfusion and Tissue teams.

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the tissue and preservation teams, performs central supply functions

• Orders supplies from multiple processors and vendors

• Builds/packs procedure/case kits to specification

• Functions as point person for all supplier and processor inquires

• Orders department specific supplies for various departmental programs (Lasting Legacy and wet lab)

• Stocks central supply

• Maintains MSDS compliance

Aligns and executes cost-improvement strategies

• Identifies primary and secondary sourcing opportunities

• Actively looks for cost savings on high volume items

Manages and maintains inventory processes

• Manages par levels to ensure case load optimization

• Maintains inventory control system (BTM)

• Trains staff in use of BTM

• Maintains lot control process

• Communicates par level changes

• Receives and distributes supplies

• Notifies departments of deliveries

• Performs inventory cycle counts and reconciliation

• Assists with transfer of supplies/equipment to offsite locations

Monitors and arranges maintenance for equipment / instrumentation

• Monitors refrigerators and coolers to ensure temperature compliance

• Point person for all equipment variances

• Performs preventative maintenance and inventory of surgical instruments

• Assists with pick-up/drop-off of instrumentation needing sterilization

Leads supply-related process improvement

• Notifies team of SOP deviations

• Leads eye and tissue pack kit improvement activities

Monitors and arranges fleet vehicle maintenance and cleaning

Performs other duties and complete special projects as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.  Applicable experience in medical supplies or inventory role desirable
