GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under administrative direction, is responsible for managing and implementing, contract initiation, monitoring, and compliance activities, in accordance with the HHSC contracting policies and procedures.

The contract manager’s task is to ensure consistent management of proposals and contracts under the Behavioral Health Division. This generally includes coordination of the contract management process, as well as development of specific standards for bidding and submission, contract negotiations and document management. The contract manager’s role in the contract development process requires close collaboration with various departments, including clinical operations, project management, account management, business operations and finance.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Public Administration, Health Administration, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or related degree preferred or 6 years of relevant experience and some college.
  • 2 years of experience developing and/or managing contracts.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret professional and clinical documents, financial reports, and legal documents

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of diverse contracts, procurement processes, and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills. including email communications, letter writing skills, executive summaries, Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills. Ability to multi-task through multiple projects.
  • Consistently meets deadlines, with ability to prioritize, multi-task and be flexible.
  • Must be detail oriented and team oriented.
  • Must be able to work with little supervision and direction.
  • Be able to respond to complex inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the community. 
  • Perform moderately complex financial computations.
  • Be able to negotiate rates and contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS

  • Must have valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to complete all LifePath Systems training.
  • Must be able to provide at least 3 professional or educational references. 

BENEFITS

Salary Range: $53,000-58,000 per year              

Shift Hours: M-F 8-5pm
