The Registered Nurse serving as the Float Nurse, provides assistance with nursing as needed in the following areas: Post Partum & Nursery, Intensive Care, Med/Surg/IMC, Short Stay, and Emergency Department. The RN is able to take a patient care assignment, if needed, working with another nurse who is primary to that department. The RN is able to accompany patients needing ambulance transport to another facility. The RN utilizes the knowledge bases of nursing education and experience in order to deliver nursing care using the nursing process according to the hospital’s policies, procedures and protocols. The RN must respond to life threatening situations with appropriate nursing interventions. The RN organizes patient care delivery by prioritizing, delegating, delivering and evaluating on an ongoing basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure in the state of Oregon.
- Obtain BLS within 3 months of hire and maintain as current.
- Obtain ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire and maintain as current.
- Obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within 6 months of hire
- Minimum of three years acute care experience.
- Successful completion of an approved course in cardiac dysrhythmia recognition or satisfactory performance on a written dysrhythmia identification examination with 6 months of employment
Essential Job Functional:
- Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of the nursing process for patients in the following age groups: Newborns, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics.
- Documents accurately and appropriately, following regulatory and hospital requirements.
- Participates in the responsible management of health care resources.
- Assumes responsibility for clinical competency and professional development.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac rhythms.
- Practices in a critical care environment through application of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including but not limited to mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac pacing.
