Qualifications
Caregiving: 1 year (Required)
Forensics experience (Preferred)
High school or equivalent (Required)
Driver's License (Required)
CPR First Aid Certification (Required)
Fluent in English (Required)
Education and Experience
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED, CPR/FA (completed within 30 days of employment), CPI (completed within 45 days of employment), and DSP 1 & 2 (completed within 12 months of employment)
- Minimum Experience: 6 months to 1 year of professional or personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illnesses with challenging behaviors strongly preferred
- Minimum Driving Experience: Must have a valid in-state driver’s license, be over 18, provide current registration and insurance, and have a driving record with no more than 2 points within the last 3 years.
- Fingerprinted in order to obtain a Criminal Record Clearance. Physical exam, TB test, and current 1st Aid/CPR. The Candidate must successfully pass all pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check, physical, etc.
- Direct Support Essential Functions Include: Job position requires a candidate who can assist adults with developmental disabilities in their daily lives. Assists with complete care of dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs. Redirects behaviors with various activities including, walking, reading, games, math, and computer projects. This is a Forensic home; Level 4I experience Preferred.
- Be knowledgeable and capable of complying with Titles 17 and 22
- Provide transportation for medical/ dental appointments
- Assist/ teach residents coping skills, independent living skills, job skills, social interaction skills.
- Observe and record resident’s physical condition such as pulse, temperature, respiration, and weight. Medication administration. Supervise/assist in consumer’s grooming, eating, personal hygiene, preparation of meals based on menu schedules/ dietary requirements, and meet transportation needs.
- Provide proper documentation of all charts and notes
- Implement house rules and consumers rights in keeping with legal mandates and facility policies
- Involved in a multi-disciplinary team. Constantly collaborate with other mental health professionals to develop and manage an effective treatment plan.
- Must be able to provide effective crisis intervention, Identify and resolve problems accurately and efficiently. Report any suspected abuse/ unusual incident or injury immediately to proper authorities
- Positive behavioral support with effective communication and listening techniques
- Maintaining the facility and keeping things clean and safe at all times
- Attend in-service and ongoing training/education as appropriate

COVID-19 considerations:
All clients will be vaccinated prior to moving into the home.
Staff are advised to be vaccinated but if not they get tested once a week.
If possible staff members are advised to work in one location at a time to avoid spread of Covid-19
