What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at LifeWays?
General Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of Director of Contracts Management, the Paralegal will assist the operations of the Contracts Management Department by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; research, and fact checking. The Paralegal will assist LifeWays staff in the purchasing/procurement process of enrolling vendors, gathering quotes and/or issuing Requests for Qualification (RFQ) and Requests for Proposals (RFP).
Essential Functions:
- Meets with providers and other professionals to discuss assigned documents or projects.
- Exercises professional judgement to draft legal documents including routine Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), contracts, RFP/RFQ, and agreements according to Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Mid-State Health Network (MSHN), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and LifeWays guidelines and contractual obligations.
- Uses professional judgement to identify concerns and to recommend corrective action.
- Keeps track of changes in legal framework and provides timely updates on these changes.
- Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to Director of Contracts Management.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves provider files, which may include evidence, exhibits, corrective action, and other items.
- Monitors contract and agreement lifecycles to ensure compliance with necessary reviews and updates.
- Responsible for adherence to all Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Certification/Licensure:
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required;
- Must have reliable transportation*
- At least one year related experience with paralegal or contract management experience
Preferred Education/Certification/Licensure:
- Bachelor degree in Paralegal Studies or related field;
- Paralegal or contract experience in Community Mental Health services.
Salary : $54,789 - $63,539
