POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of the senior level accountant is to maintain accurate books and records for a portfolio of senior housing communities located in Texas and New Mexico. This position is responsible for issuing financial statements timely and accurately in accordance with company accounting policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares and enters journal entries for month-end close not limited to accruals, amortization, capitalization, and true-up entries
Reconciles bank accounts
Prepares ACH and wires, as necessary
Prepares and reconciles balance sheet account schedules
Calculates management fees, owner’s distributions, funding requests, and cash analysis
Reviews accounts payable invoices and checks for accuracy
Reviews accounts receivable for reasonableness and ensures reporting accuracy
Reviews monthly balance sheets and income statements to ensure accuracy
Assists in the analysis and variance explanations for the financial statements
Assists with year-end audits and tax preparation worksheets
Communicates with on-site staff to resolve financial and accounting system issues and provides accounting support, including training
Assists with the preparation of annual budgets and review of final budgets
Complies with company policies and procedures, accounting policies and procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws
Additional Responsibilities:
Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required from an accredited four-year college or university
Minimum of three years accounting experience, preferably in property management, multi-family, or related industry
Demonstrated mastery of Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
Ability to follow established procedures
Fluent in reading, understanding, and analyzing financial statements
Ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Ability to perform cash forecasting and planning
Capable of working independently
Ability to set goals
Ability to complete assigned tasks accurately, timely, and consistently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Detail-oriented
Strong organizational skills
Willing to travel occasionally for short trips to the communities
