We are looking for someone who is compassionate and loves to help. This individual should have a minimum of 2 years of experiencing working as a Phlebotomist, Lab or an IV Technician. We utilize both conventional and alternative methods to facilitate the body's innate healing response.
The Phlebotomist & IV Technician works directly with patients to obtain blood specimens for patient diagnostic purposes and administer IV therapies in the clinic to the patients as per the prescribed doctors’ orders.
Job Duties:
· Verifies that the patient has attended an appointment with their practitioner within the last year and has a current (within the last year) practitioner’s order for the lab test.
· Clarifies and gets an answer in writing on any point that is not clear in the patient’s chart before collecting a patient specimen, even if that means getting the chart to the Lab/IV Team Lead for clarification with the practitioner’s assistant.
· Delivers correct lab testing to multiple patients as per standard protocol including collecting specimens from patients (blood, stool, saliva, urine, or tissue) in a professional and competent manner.
· Packages collected specimens securely and in the required fashion as directed by protocol of receiving lab so that they are received in the correct condition required for processing.
· Tracks patient lab tests to ensure that specimens are received by the processing lab.
· Deliver IV treatments to multiple patients.
· Perform sanitation, maintenance and tracking of infusion equipment.
· Assist in inventory control.
· Enter all paperwork is in order as well as enters all notes into patient chart.
· Follow up with all their patients to ensure the patient follows their treatment schedule. This can be done by phone calls and letters and by encouraging the patient when in for their treatment.
· Perform the set up and clean up checklist on the equipment to prepare for patient use.
· Manage their daily schedule to ensure patients have enough time to receive their treatment and no delay on servicing patients to prevent scheduling conflicts.
Education and/or Experience:
· Graduate of Highschool/GED or equivalent
· 2 years of experience working as a Phlebotomist or IV Technician
· Familiarity of medical terminology.
· Must love to help people.
· Demonstrated patience with people who are ill. Must be very compassionate
· Superior communication and patient service skills
Language Skills:
Must speak English. Any other language is a plus.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, must be able to stand for periods up to 7 hours at a time caring for patients and assisting the doctor.
Hours:
This is a full-time hourly position with a 37.5 hour work week in the office, Monday-Friday.
