Accounts Receivable Supervisor

Description

Purpose:

Lead and coordinate activities required to ensure an accurate and current accounts receivable system. Primary responsibilities for maintaining the accounts receivable department which include: pursuing collections to conclusion; researching and resolving exceptions on customer accounts; and conducting reconciliations and month end close. Establishes and implements procedures that increase financial controls and efficiency in conjunction with the Accounting Manager. Reports routinely on current receivable aging and collection efforts to date.

Responsibilities:

• Follow-up on open receivable balances and pursues collections to conclusion
• Update customer accounts in JDEdwards AR software to reflect collections status
• Investigate discrepancies between payments received and invoiced amounts
• Responsible for leading, training, and reviewing the work of a team of 2-3 people in AR
• Responsible for appropriate delegation, setting of team schedules, re-balancing of workloads and other functions in order to meet AR deadlines
• Own monthly and annual AR close process
• Work with customers and internal departments to settle disputes. Analyze, resolve and document problems. Pursue and document collections on problem accounts in partnership with AR Supervisor and AR Specialist.
• Process write offs after ensuring compliant with bad debt policy. Ensure appropriate back-up provided for review and approval by management.
• Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of AR sub-ledger to general ledger and other month end activities as assigned.
• Accrue for any invoices not billed through AR.
• Work with other departments involved with order entry to fulfillment to improve processes and prevent billings errors.
• Assist with JDE and systems training for new hires in AR dept.
• Cover other AR desk(s) as required for absences and vacations.
• Special projects as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• AA or higher level degree in Accounting or proven equivalent experience.
• Prior Lead experience with proven people management and team building skills.
• Advanced Excel. Able to work with data extracts and formulas
• Minimum of five (5) years AR/collections experience in an automated AR environment.
• Detail-oriented, accurate and careful.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to explain financial issues and results in clear and concise manner
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Related experience in manufacturing environment. (Knowledge of JDEdwards a plus).
• Ability to work schedule as assigned.

Qualifications
