Summary:

The IT Manager for LightSpeed VT is responsible for the administration and configuration of Mac and Windows workstation clients, servers & LAN in a corporate headquarters environment.

Description of Duties:

  • Provides server maintenance for Windows & Apple Servers while standing up new servers.
  • Supports a hybrid physical and virtual server environment while maintaining corporate infrastructure, applications and services used by LightSpeed VT
  • Manage and secure the wired and wireless network infrastructure from potential threats while monitoring daily use and optimizing network hardware for convergence and throughput.
  • Perform periodic analysis for network & file sharing solutions in support of upgrade planning.
  • Create & maintain best practices to protect networks and computer assets from threats
  • Work with IT service providers and vendors to execute patches, upgrades and maintenance as required on hardware and software for both infrastructure servers and client workstations.
  • Maintain IT processes and procedural documentation for IT services activities
  • Maintain server room environment and monitoring equipment
  • Create, change, and delete user accounts within various corporate systems per request
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures as needed. Coordinate and communicate with impacted personnel
  • Responsible for Backup and Recovery of data on all corporate servers/systems as needed
  • Assist in driving continuous improvements in IT processes and technology offerings
  • Assist in maintaining updating and developing procedures for recording IT asset inventory
  • Maintain VOIP telephone system by configuring handsets, updating user extensions and setting up voice mail.
  • Modify and enforce Group Policy objects for all User, System & Hardware accounts.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours, occasionally with short notice
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Solid project management skills including the ability to evaluate project objectives and scope, analyze objectives for feasibility and gain business / IT understanding
  • Self-starter with excellent organization, prioritization and time management skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience providing end user hardware and software support, peripheral installation and maintenance
  • Ability to recognize, secure and direct confidential and non-routine information to management
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and continue to increase your value to the company
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

Professional Experience / Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in network and systems administration supporting complex environments (Mac & PC systems)
  • Experience building and maintaining IT infrastructure which consist of wired and wireless networks, firewalls servers, storage for Microsoft, Linux, and OSX operating systems.
  • Must have strong networking skills with proven, in-depth experience of network protocols such as IMAP, SMTP, FTP, SSL, SSH while managing and configuring network equipment.
  • Experience managing Microsoft infrastructure including Windows Server 2008/2012, Active Directory, Deployment Services, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Experience with Apple Server, Open Directory profile manager for various OSX distributions.
  • Familiarity with data storage virtualization including RAID, iSCSI, NFS & ZFS storage systems
  • Scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Batch, Bash & VI Editor command lines.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands/fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee will need the ability to regularly lift 50+ pounds. This includes carrying and moving server equipment as needed.
  • The position will require the employee to occasionally climb a 6’ ladder.
