What are the responsibilities and job description for the DevSecOps Lab Intern II position at LinQuest?
LinQuest is seeking a summer DevSecOps Lab intern to join our innovation laboratory team in Chantilly, Virginia!
This paid internship will span from May-August 2024 (Flexible on start/end date) with the potential to go part time past this period. The intern will work out of the LinQuest Lab in Chantilly.
Interns will build out a DevSecOps environment for an existing software application. This will include building a CI/CD pipeline, containerizing an application into microservices, and applying image scanning for vulnerabilities in an automated manner. Interns will need to have prior understanding of Git as well as the overall process of software development.
This is also an opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of cutting-edge technologies such as cloud architectures, Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality, networking, 5G, cybersecurity, satellite communications, and 3D modeling using gaming technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide your unique viewpoints, skills, and innovative ideas with opportunities to gain valuable experience and exposure to cutting-edge technologies in a laboratory environment
- Create a development pipeline for our data analytics application and apply security concepts to the deployment environment.
- Use knowledge, skills, and experiences gained in the classroom and apply them to real-world technical issues.
- Candidates must have an inquisitive nature with the ability to use critical thinking and analysis skills to identify problems and provide solutions.
- Develop skills utilizing modern DevSecOps tooling, methodologies, and deployment strategies into our Lab environment to support our team for the further development of a data visualization tool.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Basic networking skills, understanding of the OSI layers
- Working knowledge of big data techniques
- Basic knowledge of technical writing
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python or R)
- Basic understanding of secure coding practices
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis
- Desire to learn from experienced engineering professionals
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Confidence to express new/futuristic concepts and methodologies
- Desire to perform in a dynamic laboratory environment
- Working knowledge of Git
- You must be a college student in good standing, enrolled in a 4 year university in your Junior or Senior year
- Pursing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- You must have a minimum college GPA requirement of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. If you are selected for an internship extension, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 after each completed semester/term
- US citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance are required to be considered for this position
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with network systems, containerization, and cloud environments
- Experience using or deploying common CI/CD pipeline tools
- Demonstrated desire to automate, optimize, and secure processes
Compensation:
- Starting hourly pay for this position is $24 an hour
