Shift Hours: If it is a single shift can list here, if salaried, can remove.

  • 6am-6pm (2-2-3 schedule, 12-hour schedule)
  • 6pm-6am 2-2-3 schedule, 12-hour schedule)

Compensation:

  • $26-32/hour
  • $.50/hour shift premium for working 6am-6pm shift
  • $2.00/hour shift premium for working 6pm-6am shift

 

The Tool Room is responsible for:

Toolmakers work to repair and maintain plastic injection mold tools, varying from single cavity low volume to multi-cavity high volume molds. This routinely includes disassembly and cleaning of complex molds, some of which can exceed thousands of pounds in weight and require lifting by an overhead crane to tables in the Toolroom, where intricate and often delicate or expensive components are removed for inspection, repair, and cleaning. Setups to the correct plastic product configuration and troubleshooting of molding visual defects or dimensional issues may be done on the bench or in the presses to determine next steps and make corrections as needed. Some fabrication or repair may be done on components using toolroom equipment including use of a lathe, mill, EDM machine, grinders, etc.

Day-to-day, you can find yourself working on:

  • Inspect, build & maintain tooling & part fixtures using turning, milling & grinding operations
  • Perform scheduled & emergency tooling repair, maintenance, cleaning & set-up of self-contained molds
  • Recommend changes to mold designs to improve life of the tooling
  • Assist in troubleshooting of tooling on production floor in the molding machines & on the bench
  • Understanding of hot runner tooling function, maintenance & troubleshooting
  • Support and participation in continuous improvement activities including maintaining a clean and organized workplace

Who you are:

  • Degree for 2-year machine trades program
  • 2-5 years’ experience in assembly and reassembly of molds with thorough knowledge & understanding of tooling, tool room practices, and fabricating techniques
