You will provide direction and oversight for Mortgage Loan Services to include management responsibilities and personnel administration, compliance, and administration of various mortgage loan programs and products. This position will also provide development and maintenance of escrow and servicing processes for loan programs and products. You will be charged with ensuring we maintain a profitable mortgage loan portfolio while staying competitive in our market.
What you will do:
- Manages all aspects of the Mortgage Servicing Department to ensure efficient and compliant operation in conforming with federal, state and internal regulations, policies and procedures
- Supervise the Mortgage Services Specialist by:
- Communicating clearly established, defined position objectives
- Ensuring job duties are understood and performed
- Communicating performance expectations and ensuring they are met
- Providing problem-solving techniques
- Conducting training on various task and skills
- Oversees accurate and timely processing of property taxes, private mortgage insurance, hazard insurance and adjustments to non-fixed rate products
- Assist in the planning and management of complex projects relating to in-house and secondary market mortgage servicing platforms.
- Will maintain oversight of sub-servicer and escrow operations for all loans while ensuring compliance with FNMA
- Be familiar with MERS servicing related responsibilities
- Assists in the setup and management of loan participation agreements
- Manages day-to-day Servicing Team dynamics by identifying potential areas of risk and develops corrective action plans for resolution
- Monitors and evaluates processes performed by sub-servicers to ensure Mortgage Servicing operates to its fullest capabilities
- Ensure that a safe, sound, and profitable mortgage loan portfolio is maintained
- Read and understand all sections of the Listerhill Policy Manual with emphasis on mortgage loan policies
- Assist in maintaining a thorough, up to date knowledge of the requirements for the bookkeeping and eventual sale of mortgage loans into the secondary market
- Understand and adhere to a working knowledge of the mortgage lending requirements of NCUA, the State of Alabama, and other states in which the credit union makes mortgage loans, and other applicable mortgage related regulations
- Maintain integrity of the department ensuring confidentiality, discretion, commitment and dedication
- Ensure compliance with investor guidelines in the closing and post-closing of loans
- Develop and maintain network with other credit union and mortgage professionals
- Participate in trade association events, charity fundraising, and other external activities as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Five to eight years of mortgage experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Management is preferred
- Licensed and registered on National Registry adhering to SAFE Act requirements
- Experience with Encompass Loan Operating System preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are required
- Detail oriented and proficient in problem solving with the ability to make sound, logical decisions
- Ability and flexibility to respond in a fast-paced and changing environment, with minimal supervision and the ability to work independently
- Bondable with no felony convictions
