TITLE: GROUNDSKEEPER/DRIVER
32-40 hours per week. Must be available for very early trips to Albuquerque and other locations. Must be available after normal work hours if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must possess a valid Driver's License and have a good driving record.
2. Must be able to pass criminal fingerprint background check and pre-employment drug test.
3. Familiarity with landscaping equipment and knowledge of gardening techniques and gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides.
4. Must have knowledge of maintaining vehicles.
4. Ability to learn new procedures and follow instructions implicitly.
5. Ability to drive various vehicles.
6. Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for performing landscaping tasks to maintain the grounds of the Home. Also responsible for the safe transportation of the Collecting Sister and for scheduled pickups of dietary and other needs of the Home. Load and unloading all donations and/or purchases to vehicle and Home.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Begging Sister and Mother Superior
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Must possess excellent organizational skills along with vehicle mechanical and landscaping equipment knowledge.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepare areas for various weather conditions by weather proofing to include outdoor furniture with tarps, tying down unsecure items, etc.
2. Snow removal of all sidewalks, pathways, and emergency exits.
3. Removal of debris from the property, making frequent trips to the local landfill.
4. Maintain rosebushes, trees, and other foliage which includes trimming and watering as needed.
5. Remove dead trees and other foliage as needed.
6. Maintain gardens and lawns including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching, and applying pesticides.
7. Perform structural work which includes painting and completing small building repairs.
8. Ensure gardening and landscaping equipment is maintained and operating properly.
9. Order supplies and equipment as needed.
10. Transport the Collecting Sister on her rounds each day obeying all traffic laws.
11. Make pickups according to schedule and need, being self-sufficient when necessary.
12. Carry all donated articles from the stores to the truck and unload to proper place within the Home.
13. Clean and maintain vehicles; keep records of maintenance of vehicles.
14. Keep garage neat and orderly.
15. Perform any other duties necessary to fulfill the primary duties and responsibilities of the position, as well as those assigned by management personnel.
TRAVEL:
This requires local travel within the Gallup area. In addition, there may be an occasional job-related event/conference/meeting requiring travel beyond this geographical region, including overnight accommodations. Associated expenses are determined and approved by Mother Superior and the Human Resources Manager.
