Overview:
Works with Senior Director of Marketing and Communication to develop and implement annual public relations strategy.
Helps manage agency of record. Explores and executes opportunities to enhance communication with agency. Inspires improved performance and helps to hold agency accountable for performance.
Works with agency and leads the effort to pitch stories to the media and to secure coverage. Creatively writes impactful pitches, releases, and alerts.
Develops and strengthens LiveOnNY’s relationships with media throughout service area, including both mainstream and trade media, and in all mediums TV, radio, digital, etc.
Fortifies and maintains relationships with PR contacts at stakeholder organizations including transplant centers, donor hospitals, hospital associations etc.
Manage and oversee multimedia room including requests, scheduling, studio supervision and delivery of final content.
Assists with media events by preparing run-of-show, talking points, participant consent, and asset development and usage (i.e. step-and-repeat).
Writes talking points, blogs, annual report content, social posts and other copy as needed.

The Press Officer champions the organization’s effort to secure meaningful press coverage of the LiveOnNY brand and the organ and tissue donation and transplantation cause. Mines for the best stories and creatively pitches, develops and utilizes strong relationships with the press. Executes first-rate events to fully realize the story-telling potential of LiveOnNY and donation/transplantation. Supports and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to organ and tissue donation.

Press Officer Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field. Five years' experience in public relations and/or communications. Strong writing skills. Ability to research information, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. Computer literacy (i.e. Word Processing, Excel, and PowerPoint) required. Good interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
Agency experience preferred.
