Position Overview:
We are seeking a Medical Assistant who is bilingual in Spanish and English. This vital role supports our healthcare providers through a variety of administrative and clinical duties. We need a team member who can efficiently work in a fast-paced environment, while providing the utmost care for our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide prompt medical support under the direction of a healthcare provider. Duties include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and documenting coding information for insurance purposes using our AthenaHealth EMR system.
- Help ensure patients and families get the care they need when they need it.
- Promote teamwork with coworkers while adhering to all standards of nursing care. Preparing and administering medications as directed by a healthcare provider.
- Measuring vital signs, such as blood pressure.
- Perform injections and other basic medical procedures (breathing treatments, A1c, ECGs, urine tests, etc…)
- Assisting the physician and providers during patient examinations.
- Provides basic education and information to patients, making sure patients’ questions are answered, anxieties alleviated, and interfaces with community-oriented activities and staff
- Achieves the organizational mission to provide health care access for all the members of the community.
- Preparing and handling medical instruments and supplies, ensuring that examination rooms are clean and ready for patients.
- Consistently and openly communicates with supervisors, providers, and all staff. Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy.
Requirements:
- 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Proficient in Spanish and English.
- Knowledge of medical regulations, medical office procedures, and medical billing procedures.
- Proficiency in using an Electronic Medical Record System for patient charting preferred, or a willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
- Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to patients and staff.
- Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
- Stand for long periods
- Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.
