What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level Engineering Planner / Hardware Obsolescence position at Lockheed Martin?

The selectee will serve as a hardware obsolescence researcher and analyst. This is an entry level position with an emphasis on identifying and analyzing obsolescence for commercial hardware used on several Lockheed Martin programs. Under guidance from more senior personnel, the successful candidate analyzes technical and obsolescence data and reports to identify potential impacts to Lockheed Martin programs.
The selectee will provide design guidance to engineering for use of preferred materials and suppliers to minimize impact from obsolescence and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS). Review new designs and propose certain suppliers/ technologies for both COTS electrical and mechanical part selections based on cost, obsolescence forecasts, reliability, quality and availability. Interface with the market surveillance team to clarify parts support, availability, and supplier recommended resolutions. Leverage lifecycle and Bill of Material grading through DMSMS forecasting tools [e.g. Silicon Expert, IHS, Q-Star, etc.] to identify, forecast, and resolve obsolete component issues. Investigate and close DMSMS / obsolescence issues from engineering, production, and/or fielded parts. Identify and analyze critical parts and recommend resolutions for proactive monitoring efforts.
The selectee will also support working group meetings to track status and action items regarding obsolescence; measure and track internal metrics to ensure processes and resolutions are being followed and implemented.
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Basic Qualifications:
To be qualified to interview for this role, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
• Self-starter, ability to work in a deadline driven environment and close on tasks
• Familiarity of commercial computer systems, equipment, software, and technologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to research on own and experience as an individual contributor in a team environment.
• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to personal and corporate excellence, ethical behavior and integrity.
• Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt and change to meet customer requirements.
