Locus is currently searching for an Outside Plant Inspector. This will be a 1 year contract and will be located in Bend, Oregon.
Hourly Rate: $30 to $36 per hour W2

Position Description
This position is primarily responsible for providing daily management of construction vendors and job site inspection for a Zayo long haul fiber project. Inspectors will monitor all underground construction activities in their assigned area and enforce all standards, guidelines and best practices applicable to the project area. Construction activities include directional boring, trenching, rock sawing, excavating and fiber placement.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily management of construction vendors to ensure project timelines are met.
- Perform job site assessments upon arrival and throughout day to ensure crews meet requirements for traffic control, safety and fire mitigation.
- Inspection of installations to ensure they meet quality specs for Zayo and/or DOT, BLM, USFS, local permitting jurisdictions. .
- Complete a daily Inspection log that captures every detail of the day including safety talks, production, challenges, notable incidents ect.
- Remain on site at all times during any potentially impactful activities and ensure proper approvals have been given prior to start of work.
- Immediately report all notable events to Zayo management.
- Validate that construction redlines and invoices match actual placement.
- Provide daily pictures showing construction progress, traffic control, fire mitigation equipment, and erosion control installations to be supplied to permitting agency.
- Work nights/weekends if required by the permitting agency
- Travel to work sites is mandatory. Inspectors will remain on site throughout the week and may return home for the weekends the majority of the time.
Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent required, associates or bachelor’s degree a plus.
- Minimum of 1-2 years direct experience with utility or roadway construction.
- Familiar with Email, MS Excel, Word, and Google Earth.
- Knowledge of Telecom/OSP construction
- Must be able to manage multiple construction crews
- Must be able to read and understand construction documents
- Previous knowledge of safety, traffic control, erosion control and fire mitigation protocol a plus
- Experience working on DOT right of way a plus
- The employee must possess a valid driver’s license, their own transportation, and is expected to drive as required to his/her assigned projects in order to ensure on time and on budget delivery
- The employee must perform on-site surveys and attend field meetings required to ensure projects meet the delivery/ commitment dates identified
- The employee will be required occasionally to meet with various municipalities and vendors to review project scope and to ensure positive communication is maintained
- The employee must be willing to work nights/weekends
- The employee must have a team first attitude and be willing to perform any duties as assigned
- The employee must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate situations and challenges to management
