The Ergonomic Specialist develops, maintains, and implements the Ergonomics program, emphasizing injury and illness prevention utilizing ergonomic principles and body mechanics and posture. Conducts worksite assessments in the control of exposures which can cause musculoskeletal disorders and generates report of findings and recommendations. Is responsible for continued program development and institutional training in these areas. Participates in the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Emergency Response. Maintains up to date understanding of all applicable occupational safety code and regulation and how this affects LLUH. Performs other duties as needed.
Bachelor's Degree required in occupational safety and environmental science, rehabilitation, OT, PT, physiology, human factors or related field required. Minimum three years performing basic and complex ergonomic assessments, detailed report writing, training and tracking experience preferred. Valid driver's license required at time of hire. Professional Ergonomics Certification required.
Able to use equipment necessary to assess work areas and work station evaluations is required. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position; Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
