What are the responsibilities and job description for the PAINTER position at Longwood Gardens?

Longwood Gardens is seeking a Painter to perform day-to-day installations, repairs, preventative maintenance, and construction of garden assets throughout the site. Responsibilities include:
•Pressure washing, paint/stain mixing and paint/stain application.
•Surface preparation: surfaces include interior and exterior walls, as well as furniture, equipment, and seasonal displays.
•Greenhouse Glass: Installation and repairs, window glazing, shading application and removal
•Wallpapering, spackling/taping, and caulking
•Planning and organizing daily job tasks, orderings materials, and prioritizing individual work orders assigned.
•Supporting emergency needs such as snow removal operations.
The ideal candidate will have a successful completion of an apprenticeship program or 4 years of demonstrated field experience. Additional requirements include:
•Aerial lift and forklift operator’s licenses, OSHA lead paint certification, or must be able to obtain these licenses upon first year of employment.
•Demonstrated ability to operate the tools of the trade and to work with other trades.
•Knowledge of the necessary means, methods and materials needed to successfully complete prep and painting tasks.
•Familiarity with email, internet, and Microsoft Office products
•Strong decision-making, communication, analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
•Ability to climb and work at heights on ladders, aerial work platforms, stairs, planks and fall restraint, and scaffolding.
•Ability to lift 50 pounds; stand and sit for extended periods; and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
•Must be able to work alone and in a team, be willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing jobs.
