Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is looking for a Nuclear Materials Specialist 2 to support Nuclear Process Infrastructure's Plutonium Capabilities Transuranic Waste Management Group (NPI-6) on the Planning and Reporting Team. NPI-6 ensures safe, efficient, and compliant waste management generated at the TA-55 Plutonium Facility, the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research (CMR) building, the TA-50 Radioactive Liquid Waste Treatment Facility (RLWTF), and the Radiological Laboratory Utility Office Building (RLUOB). NPI-6 provides frequent opportunities to learn and a supportive environment when challenges arise. How we do our job is as important as what we do! Nuclear Materials Specialist 2: $65,700 - $104,400
A Nuclear Materials Specialist 2 is responsible for assigned nuclear material management activities, including but not limited to nuclear materials inventory analysis, reporting, forecasting, and distribution to meet Laboratory and Department of Energy-level customer needs and requirements. You will also be responsible for collecting nuclear material inventory data to assist managers in optimizing processing, shipping, storage, and disposition of nuclear material. You may also be responsible for applying general and working knowledge of Laboratory special nuclear materials processing, storage, control, disposition, and distribution to improve group operations.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Skills/Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear materials inventory data analysis, including planning, trending, reporting, and controlling. Demonstrated knowledge of classified computing and classified document handling requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of database queries, forms, and reports. General understanding of project management principles and practices.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Broad knowledge of relevant Laboratory procedures, standards, and guides. General knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to nuclear materials management and/or Transuranic waste management. A DOE Q clearance is desirable.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
