Position Overview
This position is one of a team of technical security leaders responsible for training, mentoring, coaching, and employing skilled and semi-skilled trade employees in all facets of the technical security field to include but not limited to communications and camera systems, handheld radios, access control and security systems, and badge card readers. This position exercises leadership to create, design, implement, assess, and revise projects related to the security systems integration and automation. The technical security coordinator participates in the on-call Facilities Operations technician rotation.

Employees who perform the responsibilities of this position for the Department of Support Services are considered essential personnel. Essential personnel are designated employees who must report for work during a delay or emergency situations. A workplace emergency is an unforeseen situation that threatens the staff, pupils, or the public; disrupts or shuts down business operations; or causes physical or environmental damage. Emergencies may be natural or manmade. It is incumbent upon the supervisor to inform and confirm which essential personnel are required to work during emergency closings. Notification and confirmation of the expectation of essential personnel to report to work, or maintain as-needed status, will be executed with as much advanced notice as possible via in-person communication or email.

- Leads and manages skilled and semi-skilled technicians in the completion of all facets of the technical security equipment lifecycle including new systems installation, operations and maintenance of existing equipment, emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Plans, manages, and overseas technical security infrastructure projects including but not limited to; communications and camera systems, handheld radios, access security systems, badge card readers, etc.
- Advises and provides direction and supervision to technicians troubleshooting technical problems with hardware and software.
- Assists the Technical Security Supervisor with design, costing, scheduling, and technical support for Technical Security systems.
- Participates in preparation of the operating budget for a section and establishes controls over expenditures by allocating and assigning resources.
- Assists in the development of long-range program plans, budgets, staffing profiles, human resources management, and related strategies and procedures that ensure the project mission is accomplished.
- Develops and maintains working relationships with school, county and outside agency personnel.
- Serves as Essential Personnel and participates in the Facilities Operations Division response to facility emergencies or other incidents impacting school operations.
Qualifications
Below are the qualifications for this position:
- Ten years of progressively increasing experience in the technical security field, including two years of leadership experience
- Knowledge of CADD, Health Monitoring servers, network programing, software management
- Demonstrate knowledge of theories, procedures, practices, expertise, materials, methods, and technology required to accomplish mission or section to which assigned
- Familiarity with school division, county, and state regulations and laws that relate to activities
- Ability to interpret Policies, Regulations, Operations and Maintenance Manuals, and read blueprints and provide recommend modifications to procedures and regulations
- Knowledge of using computerized management reports to assess effectiveness of a maintenance organization;
- Demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with school personnel and with the community
- Possession of a valid state driver's license
