Knapp Hall Pay Grade: Professional Job Description: Work Location: LSU AgCenter School of Nutrition and Food Sciences, Knapp Hall, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The accountant’s office will be located in Baton Rouge on the LSU campus. This is a grant-funded position with 100% time allocated to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed, 60%) and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP, 40%). Position Description: Accountant’s duties for SNAP-Ed: The incumbent will assist with processing SNAP-Ed invoices and general coordination of all SNAP-Ed administrative fiscal activities. The accountant will act as the fiscal contact for the grant with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Additionally, this will include providing backup documentation for monthly invoices to DCFS. The candidate will verify salaries and percentages of all staff charged to the SNAP-Ed grant monthly in the university HR system (Workday). Additionally, the incumbent will prepare SNAP-Ed budget revisions as needed. Likewise, the financial analysist will keep ledgers of expenditures for the grant and provides monthly balances to the principal investigator (PI) and program manager. The incumbent will also work with Sponsored Programs accounting to administer the fiscal aspects of the grant. The candidate will assist with purchasing and ordering SNAP-Ed supplies and educational materials. Accountant duties for EFNEP: The incumbent will review monthly EFNEP financial transactions and supporting documentation by parishes and state office that include verification of expenses by EFNEP personnel. Moreover, the candidate will ensure that expenses are within federal and state purchasing guidelines. The accountant will track expenses in Quicken and Workday and prepare EFNEP financial reports and discuss spending activities with the P.I. Assist both programs in their compliance with the fiscal year-end closeout process by ensuring that all expenditures are accurately reported and included in financial reports. The applicant will need to complete tasks in accordance with established deadlines to ensure that EFNEP and SNAP-Ed financial statements are fairly and accurately presented. This individual must be willing to maintain professional competence as a faculty member of the LSU AgCenter. Coordination and collaboration with other LSU AgCenter extension faculty will be essential. Additionally, it is important to solve most problems independently and recommend solutions for significant issues. The accountant is expected to perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors. Qualification Requirements: A baccalaureate degree in accounting, business administration, general studies, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is required and a minimum of one year’s experience. The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills, along with strong computer skills. The incumbent should have a working knowledge of Workday, Excel, Quicken, and other software that assist with accounting functions. It is required that the candidate demonstrates effective communication (verbal and written) skills with a variety of audiences. It is critical that the applicant possesses an ability to work with and through others, as is the ability to function with supervision.
