Under general direction and reporting to the Controller, the Project Analyst is responsible for reporting, coordinating activities, resources, preparation of monthly billing and invoicing in support of projects for the Institute.
The Project Analyst will work with Scientists and other business units/leaders in the development of proposals, budgets and estimates for completion as well as establish track and monitor project schedules, deliverables and milestones. The Project Analyst will be responsible for analyzing financials to ensure that project goals are accomplished on time and on budget. Individual will communicate with sponsors, Scientists and Accounting and Finance personnel on project schedules, project and financial status including estimates to complete and deliverables, and perform all other duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Requires bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, 4-6 years of directly-related experience in project and/or financial analysis, including a minimum of 1 year of documented experience in billing on federal and commercial contracts; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Excellent knowledge and experience in project scheduling, control, reading, interpreting, forecasting and analyzing financials is required. Candidate must have knowledge and understanding of the operational, logistical, financial and administrative requirements of laboratory and research studies. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and financial reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism, excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project or equivalent and must have the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed. Well organized with attention to details.
Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Previous experience working in a biomedical research environment is strongly preferred.
