DISHWASHER JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Chef

Job Summary

The Dishwasher assists the cooks and chefs in maintaining a clean kitchen, properly washing and sorting dishes and prepping food as needed. Dishes must be cleaned and stored according to set standards and procedures of the Tugboats. Dishwashers are committed to keep the restaurant clean at all times while at the same time ensuring the highest levels of service possible while maintaining and exceeding objectives directed by the restaurant management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports to work on time and wears the proper or prescribed uniform
  • Maintains a pleasant and friendly attitude both to customers and staff promoting an environment of teamwork and camaraderie
  • Maintains a clean clean kitchen, properly washing and sorting soiled dishes.
  • Properly washes, stacks and stores glassware, silverware, cookware and storage containers.
  • Maintains clean/dry floors throughout the shift
  • Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trash cans and boxes as needed
  • Follows the posted daily cleaning duties
  • Assists in food prep or other duties set for by the chef
  • Communicates with the Chef in relation to issues with stocks and counter resources
  • Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in assigned areas
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards per ServeSafe guidelines
  • Abide by the policies and standards as set out by the Employee Handbook
  • Closes down the area in an orderly manner, placing storage items in order before leaving the premises
  • Reports to Chef or Restaurant Manager before ending shift or work.
  • Does all other duties as per required by the Chef/Restaurant Manager

Qualifications

Education, Certificates and Experience

  • Must at least be a high school graduate
  • Responsible Beverage Training Certification
  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification
  • Minimum 1 year experience as server

Physical Requirements

The Dishwasher Staff position is a physically demanding position that requires the following:

  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, crawl, climb, reach, bend, kneel, balance, stoop, or sit up for more than eight hours a day.
  • Use of hands to feel or reach objects and tools
  • Hearing and talking with a number of people during or most of the entire work shift
  • The use of varying vision abilities such as close vision, peripheral, depth and in adjusting focus.
  • Be able to lift and carry items of up to 25 pounds
  • Being able to tolerate temperature changes as well as immersion of one or both hands in water and cleaning substances
  • Being able to move around in the work area independently or without external help
