What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Lowe's?
Department: Various Reports to: Department Supervisor Employee Type: Indirect
Primary Job Function: Safely operate a forklift about the facility to stage containers and material and removes containers and materials as needed.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Loads and unloads material on and off of pallets, skids or lifting devices using a forklift
- Moves parts and unused material from the machine area to subsequent processing departments or to shipping or storage
- Plan and stage materials ahead of operator needs
- Change the propane cylinders when needed on the forklift
- Assists operators with set up when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications (Preferred):
Specific Experience: Previous Forklift driving experience
Formal Education: Graduation from an accredited High School or completion of GED program
Certifications: Forklift training & license from Ironform
Skills: Must have knowledge of the different types of metal, aluminum, and stainless steel
Physical Requirements of the Job:
Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, parts labels and written materials.
Speech and hearing capacity appropriate for frequent person to person and phone based conversations and meetings.
Able to move about the fabrication plant with walking and other manufacturing environment hazards.
Frequent reaching with both hands, bending, pushing & pulling loads weighing several hundred pounds, lifting or maneuvering loads of 50 lbs, tolerance for wearing protective apparel and devices. Working frequently in a hot, noisy environment.
PPE:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to be worn on production floor at all times: Hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toe work boots or shoes.
Monday-Friday 1st shift 6am-2:30pm
