Serves as a liaison and builds collaborative relationships between information systems and operational users to ensure the optimum design and use of clinical software and workflows for user experience, patient safety, patient experience, resource efficiency, and revenue capture. This position is responsible for identifying opportunities to optimize key business processes, analyzing and articulating current state workflows, and identifying barriers to optimization.

Participates in the planning, design, development, testing, education, and adoption of the EHR as it pertains to clinical practice.
Coordinates the processing and follow-up of requests for enhancements and changes from users or others affected by the system through a change management process.
Participates in efforts towards maintaining components of the automated EHR, including revisions, testing, and integration of changes in components of the EHR.
Provides proactive user support for the EHR, including, but not limited to, training and education. Assists in the evaluation and development of training and in-service programs.
Participates in computer training and orientation activities for current and up-and-coming personnel, students, and faculty.
Recognizes and resolves information system functionality issues within its scope and concerns, ensuring end user needs are being met.
Serves as a subject matter expert and resource person for the daily operational issues of the clinical systems. Functions as a liaison for information system functionality across the system.
Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure the information systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice.
Ensures policies and procedures are developed and updated to reflect the usage of the HER.
Maintains membership in, or consultation with, committees, work groups, or task forces as needed to communicate and facilitate the ongoing progress of the development, implementation, and revision of the EHR.
Maintains a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the current EHR, its functions, and its relationship to other information systems within the organization.
Initiates and participates in presentations and publications about the EHR at conferences and in professional journals as appropriate. Attends conferences and seminars as appropriate.
Implement applications, tools, and processes that assist clinicians with the management of data in patient care and the provision of health care.
Monitor and report quality data as related to the EHR and clinical software applications.
Judgment
The EHR Support Specialist? will make decisions within their scope of responsibility and in accordance with Lowell CHC policies and procedures, adhere to HIPAA best practices, and maintain the utmost privacy and confidentiality of patient and staff information.
Independent Action
The EHR Support Specialist will exercise an overall moderate-to-high level of independent action. Functions within the scope of responsibility and will collaborate and escalate requests outside of scope to appropriate teams.
Accountability
The EHR Support Specialist is accountable for everything within the scope of the role in accordance with Lowell CHC policies and procedures.The EHR Support Specialist is also accountable for achieving performance expectations established by the supervisor.
The EHR Support Specialist will need to work closely with other health center areas to achieve departmental success. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with various levels of medical and IT professionals within the health center are required. The EHR Support Specialist will need to be flexible with changes and have the ability to create an effective working relationship.
External
The EHR Support Specialist will collaborate with an external network of superusers to establish effective communications and knowledge of best practices for the benefit of the center.
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of five years in an ambulatory or inpatient clinical setting is desired.
2 years of experience working in Epic EHR
