Job Summary

This full-time role is employed through Lowell House Addiction Treatment and Recovery (LHATR) in a contract with the Executive Office of the Trial Court (EOTC) via the grant -funded Project Navigation, Outreach, Recovery, Treatment, and Hope (Project NORTH). The primary function of the Recovery Support Navigator (RSN) is to engage with individuals with indicators of substance use disorder (SUD) and/or co-occurring disorders as they present in the court system. The RSN will be operating out of either the Lawrence or Lowell District Courthouses (one RSN is designated to each courthouse).

Responsibilities

1. Engage with individuals, including their families, with indicators of substance use disorder (SUD) and/or co-occurring disorders as they present in the court system through outreach or identification of collaterals and stakeholders.
2. Provide information and access to recovery resources including, but not limited to: warm hand-off referrals to treatment across the ASAM continuum of care, behavioral health providers, medical providers, prescribers for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and psychiatric medications, self-help services, peer-recovery services, job training, cash assistance, assistance with family reunification, etc.
3. Representing the expertise of recovery-based services and resources, engage and coordinate care with collaterals and stakeholders who may be: recovery support providers, behavioral health providers, family services, housing advocates, medical providers, lawyers, probation officers, clergy, Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) case managers, etc.
4. Provide temporary assistance with transportation to treatment and related services in accordance with Project NORTH eligibility guidelines.
5. Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of goals and objectives, and progress notes developed in conjunction with the individuals served, based on their identified needs.
6. Engage in recurring individual and/or group supervision with LHATR Clinical and
Outreach Supervisors and Project NORTH Program Manager.

2. Expertise in harm-reduction strategies and understanding of principles of individualized chosen paths to recovery
3. Ability to demonstrate active listening, empathy, and motivational interviewing skills
4. Ability to engage with a wide array of diversity among those served and operating with cultural humility
5. Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Physical demands

1. Must be able to sit or stand for an extended period.
2. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

Required education and experience

1. Possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field

Preferred experience and competencies

1. Bilingualism/multilingualism in Spanish, Portuguese, Khmer, and/or other languages prevalent in the greater Lawrence and Lowell communities

This position requires the successful completion of a CORI check.
