What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant, Customs Compliance position at Lowes?
The primary purpose of this role is to assist the Customs Compliance team in monitoring import transactions and corrective actions to enable accurate reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This includes responsibility for conducting effective research, managing, tracking, and reporting on import transactions to ensure a complete audit trail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs analysis (i.e. historical, impact, etc.) and reconciliations to support monthly, quarterly and annual compliance reporting with review from senior roles where needed.
- Works with systems and processes within applicable area of operation to record and monitor post-entry corrective actions through resolution.
- Research various import activities to identify issues and exceptions, explain findings to senior analysts, managers, and directors to determine resolution.
- Maintains appropriate supporting documents, provisions, and other details for regulatory recordkeeping purposes.
- Communicates effectively within the team, across other business functions, and with external parties to ensure alignment.
- Reviews job procedures consistently to identify potential improvements that will increase the accuracy and efficiency of all assigned tasks.
- Works with systems and processes within applicable area of operation to complete and process assigned transactions.
Required Qualifications:
• High school or GED
• 1-3 years of related experience in Import functions, Import Accounting or Import Compliance.
• Previous experience in MS office programs (Excel, Word, Access)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate degree Accounting or related field
• Lowe's imports, finance or accounting experience
• Previous experience with Alteryx a plus
