Job Summary:
The Investigations Specialist coordinates and performs background screening, scoring, individualized assessments and case file management requests and reviews. This position independently assess and decisions background assessments which ultimately determine a candidates employment eligibility. Assists with development and implementation of investigations skills training for the field Asset Protect team and background training for HR and TA business partners. Provides guidance and support for second chance programs, partners, and candidates.
Seeks guidance from the SSC Investigations team assigned to oversee the criminal background screening and investigations training processes in order to achieve compliance with standards. Which mitigate risk and liability across all US stores.
Key Responsibilities:
• Creates and implements investigations related curriculum for field teams focused on safety principals, apprehension guidelines, risk and investigative skill.
• Owns the final decisioning on all Background Screening appeals via an Individualized Assessment process for applicants that submit an appeal for the convictions found to maintain compliance with EEOC guidelines
• Independently conducts individualized assessments for candidate appeals, eIAF submissions, suppressed jurisdictions, or other purposes to determine if information submitted by candidates may mitigate the risk of their criminal history
• Works with the criminal background vendor to ensure the daily review and completion of candidates that have results are scored accurately, adverse action letters are completed as dictated by EEOC and FCRA regulations, and reviews exceptions and recommends final scoring
• Maintains internal case Files and monitors outstanding case files from the field to ensure the appropriate documentation is included and cases are stored according to established procedures and policies. Evaluates and provides feedback to field teams on missing or poorly constructed case files
• Possesses functional knowledge of the Lowe’s internal case filing system, case management system and criminal background application portals and decision matrix application/ documents
• Manages Background Admin mailbox, responding to background related requests, providing guidance and assistance to Lowe’s hiring teams, and assisting in hiring and onboarding candidates more efficiently
• Evaluates and categorizes new criminal charges in the portal and recommends adjustments that could improve compliance and/or efficiency of the scoring system/process
• Creates and provides adverse action letters to candidates in Suppressed locations or as needed to ensure compliance, consistency, and adherence to all legal requirements
• Processes and tracks backgrounds for current associates that have corrected their DOB/SSN on file, current employees participating in Lowe’s commercials, and other purposes requiring processing a background outside of BAU processes
• Weekly review of Red Files and provide feedback and Mandatory Reporting as needed
Required Qualifications:
- High School or GED and 3 year's experience with investigations, asset protection, HR or related field
- 3 Years Experience in using case management systems and hiring portals
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience analyzing data
- Demonstrated experience analyzing business documents (P&L, exception reports, etc)
- Demonstrated experience conducting retail investigations
- Experience conducting quality reviews/audits
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) or Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) or Certified Interview and Interrogation – Wicklander-Zulawski
