Job Description
LS Technologies currently has an opening for an experienced Field Support Engineer (Civil or Mechanical). This position will support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) National Airspace Defense Program (NDP) Program Office (PO). The NDP PO as the FAA Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR) for military, and other federal agencies, requests for NAS Defense Services.
This position will primarily provide technical consultation and assistance to field technicians and engineers across the CONUS, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and Guam including site/service restoration, upgrades, and modifications.
Desired Experience:
- Experience installing and troubleshooting of ground-based RADAR and air-to-ground radio facilities and equipment.
- Experience installing, maintaining, testing, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN/PoE networks, Wi-Fi, and Enterprise IP Services in an operational environment.
- Experience working in and around critical operational equipment.
- Experience performing and documenting site surveys of new and existing facilities.
- Ability to perform moderate physical activity including climbing, lifting, and crawling to install network cable and equipment.
- Ability to organize complex work into executable work plan for self and team.
- Ability to communicate issues or concerns affecting the tasks and assist in resolution.
- Experience providing support for service restoration activities.
- Ability to provide liaison function with various FAA lines of business and external customers.
- Coordinating activities as appropriate with designated FAA staff, service vendors and other contract support personnel to complete overall installation of projects and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- A minimum of 10 relevant years' experience in a critical operational environment maintaining and/or restoring equipment and systems.
- Documented relevant experience demonstrating a knowledge of ground-based RADAR and/or air-to-ground radio facility installation and maintenance.
- Experience in design, test, and installation of equipment in an operational environment required.
- Knowledge of industry standard cable and digital telecommunications test equipment required.
- Must be proficient with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Excel
- Ability to multi-task, handle a fast-paced work environment, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
- Excellent writing, oral communication, management, and organizational skills
- Willingness to perform detailed work with little guidance and to interact in a positive manner with other government and industry personnel.
- Background in Civil or Mechanical Engineering a plus
- Previous FAA experience a plus
- Previous Military experience a plus
- Applicants must possess or meet eligibility requirements for gaining a security clearance. US citizenship is required.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in STEM field plus 3 years relevant experience or High School Graduate plus 11 years relevant experience
Travel: Up to 75% (extensive travel may be required)
