General Summary
The Data Analytics Manager is responsible for leading a team of analysts in the translation of data into actionable insights for key decision makers throughout the company. Using a data-driven mindset, the Data Analytics Manager will support initiatives to improve internal processes and provide solutions by converting data into useful information. The Data Analytics Manager will work across functional boundaries throughout the company and lead a team of analysts and other key stakeholders to develop reports and other tools to improve work efficiency for end users.
Essential Job Functions
- Leads a team of data analysts that perform data analysis, reporting and visualization of data to support decisions within different areas of the company.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders and end users to identify opportunities for process automation and improvement.
- Identifies and develops business intelligence tools to streamline workflow through multiple areas of the business.
- Provides support for production reporting and analytical solutions and perform ad-hoc analysis with large datasets to identify trends and patterns in data.
- Guides the team in both descriptive and predictive analytic methods to positively guide and influence business operations.
- Follows industry standard practices for data analytics.
- Creates and maintains dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using interactive data visualization software.
- Builds automation and additional efficiencies into manual reporting efforts.
- Understands business processes and underlying data and reporting needs.
- Supports the analysis, design, development, and implementation of new reporting requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Presents content to users of business intelligence tools and provides suggestions on the best way to utilize data analysis tools to enhance daily operations.
- Works with Application Development team to identify and build solutions for end users.
- Monitors current data analysis tools and provides technical expertise to troubleshoot and improve data visualizations and reports.
- Must be capable of safely handling government-furnished equipment and materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, working closely with Human Resources.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring employee-owners, training employee-owners, directing department work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employee-owners, addressing complaints and resolving problems of Analysis team members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must demonstrate professionalism and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with upper management, peers, subordinates, support function personnel and clients.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills to manage highly complex information.
- Understanding of a wide spectrum of business operations, the interdependencies between different business functions, and the way that each function brings value to the company.
- Vision to identify manual business processes across the company and ability to develop automated data-based solutions to improve efficiencies.
- Experience with developing business intelligence reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI or other interactive data visualization software including dashboard and report creation.
- Advanced to intermediate understanding of SQL and ETL process is required.
- Ability to grasp database structures and understand the underlying relationships and dependencies.
- Understanding of EVMS and associated calculations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively relate data to coworkers.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Ability to work independently with limited oversight.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance when required by the contract.
Education and Experience
- MBA or Master’s degree in data science, computer science, data analytics or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years’ experience in data analysis.
- Two (2) years’ experience in data analysis with additional leadership experience.
- Certification in data science/analytics discipline a plus.
- MRP and/or ERP experience is a bonus (Deltek, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)
- Manufacturing and/or aviation experience is a plus.
