LSMSA seeks applicants for Chinese Language Instructor (Available August, 2022)
The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts seeks applicants for a Instructor of Chinese
Language, with employment starting August 2022. This is a full-time position with all the benefits of
state employment.
The successful candidate will be able to teach four levels of collegiate, accelerated foreign language
curriculum, with the potential of additional coursework in a second language as student interests and
instructor credentials allow (MA at least in the second language too). In addition to teaching students in
a small class setting, the successful candidate must be innovative, able to engage students from varying
backgrounds, and to prepare them for successful learning once at LSMSA. The candidate should be also
willing to use office hours to tutor and assist in student research, as a key to long-term success and
satisfaction.
Other duties include academic advising, sponsoring, chaperoning, or assisting in extra-curricular and
student social activities outside the normal school day.

Required Qualifications:
The qualified candidate must hold an MA in the teaching specialty/subject area or comparable field
along with evidence of two years teaching experience and/or professional activity.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Ph.D. or terminal degree in subject area, with five or more years of teaching experience along with
research, creative work, performance, or some evidence of individualized work in one’s area of
expertise.
