Journeyman Electrician

Summary:LICENSED Industrial Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and parts, such as control panels. This position requires extensive knowledge of electrical components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations. They must be professional, technical, and mechanically proficient. NOTE:  This position has been designated as safety sensitive. It is a position that includes tasks and duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee or others. The position requires the employee’s full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute all job responsibilities.    The work of Industrial Electricians can often be physically demanding. To install and repair equipment, they may need to crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods. They must also be able to operate tools close to electrical components. Industrial Electricians must also be able to understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, or instructions. They must also be motivated to work on their own and as part of a team. Strong communication skills are a necessary part of this position. Role and Responsibilities Plans and performs jobs installing and maintaining various electrical equipment such as control panels, switchboards, junction boxes, and switches Connects and disconnects electric-powered machines Repairs motors and generators Replaces fuses and sets circuit breakers on high- and low- tension circuits Diagnoses electrical problems and must be able to work from a wiring diagram Works independently and on a team May provide direction to less experienced electricians Assists in evaluating and mentoring apprentices.  Qualifications and Education Requirements 5-7 years' experience performing quality electrical installations Licensed journeyman electrician Demonstrated focus on safety and productivity Ability to work alone and on a team. Industrial electrical projects required. Graduate of Apprenticeship program and/or completion of 24 hours of continuing education each year.
