PHYSICAL THERAPIST
SITE OF SERVICE:
- The primary site of service will be located at or associated with Naval Branch Medical Clinics and Tricare Prime Clinics based on patient demand.
- NMCP Hospital or the outlying clinics
- J50 (Gym in NAVSTA Norfolk base), Little Creek Amphibious Base, TPC-Chesapeake, TPC-Suffolk, TPC-Virginia Beach, Oceana
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree: Master's degree in physical therapy or Baccalaureate degree in physical therapy for graduates prior to January 1, 2002.
- Education:
- Graduate from a college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
- Provide proof of professional development through continuing education within the last twenty-four (24) months
- Experience:
- Possess a minimum of one (1) year experience as an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist within the preceding two (2) years
OR
- Have graduated from an accredited Physical Therapy program within the preceding year.
- Licensure: Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice as a Physical Therapist in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Island.
- U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen
- English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
- Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
TRAINING: The initial training starts at Portsmouth Naval Hospital's Physical Therapy Dept. Will have several months of training and may be assigned to an outlying clinic. But could also be assigned to stay at Portsmouth Naval’s Physical Therapy Department. The department supervisor will assign locations as they manage the schedule.
HOURS:
- Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0600 and 1700 hours.
- Shifts scheduled for 8.6 to 9 hours, to include an uncompensated 30-to-60-minute lunch break
- Weekend and holidays are on a rotational basis within the department
- No services will be provided in excess of 80 hours per two week period.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team-work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
