SITE OF SERVICE:
- On-site at Atlanta VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) 1670 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033 and associated VA clinics
- Full Time (52 Weeks)
- Education: Associates Degree in Nursing or Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
- Accreditation: Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Licensure: Possess a current and unrestricted license to practice Registered Nurse in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Cardiac Certifications: Must have the following hands-on certification by a provider recognized by the American Heart Association
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Experience: Must have at least three (3) years current experience in an acute care, medical/surgical unit in an urban, academic Medical Center setting exclusive of agency assignments and must have worked within the last six (6) months in the above settings.
- U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen.
- English Language Requirement: Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
- Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
- Provide a holistic approach to the care of patients requiring acute medical or surgical
interventions. - Assuming a patient care assignment for a group of patients
- Assessment and care of patients with a wide range of physical and diagnoses and with a wide range of treatment modalities
- Care of patients requiring special precautions such as isolation
- Inserting and maintenance of peripheral lines
- Maintaining central lines for administration of intravenous fluid
- Providing emergency care as indicated
- Administration of medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular and
intravenously) and blood products - Verification of physician orders
- Complete and accurate documentation of care according to facility/unit
policies - Phlebotomy and bedside testing
- Psychological support of patients as indicated
- Complex wound dressing care and maintenance
- May be required to work with COVID 19 positive patients and Patients
Under Investigation (PUI), for COVID 19
- Eight (8) and or ten (10) and or twelve (12) hour shifts or a
combination, with rotating weekends and holidays.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential.
