Works with cross-functional product creation teams from the collection of insights through commercialization to deliver products that exceed guest expectations. This role requires knowledge of the footwear product creation process including raw materials, design, product development, sourcing, costing and merchandising. Other critical responsibilities include understanding manufacturing capabilities, anticipating issues, problem solving, and timely resolution.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- First and foremost, you are the expert in the development of Lululemon footwear managing assigned seasonal development from line start to commercialization to achieve on time buy ready. Workload to be concentrated on medium to high complexity projects with exposure to increasingly complex projects, including new materials or platforms. Manage pre-costing and seasonal cost analysis and problem solving on all assigned projects.
- Recommend and specify to product team the material, component and construction options to meet product’s functional and aesthetic goals, provide options to meet costing targets and assure product performance integrity through product testing.
- Create and build knowledge base and stay informed about vendor capabilities and performance, factory relationships, quality issues, materials pricing and lead times.
- Responsible for the planning and execution of product development timelines that lead to on-time delivery of samples.
- Responsible for timely and effective management and maintenance of product development databases and processes for tracking prototypes, samples, specification and materials data from concept through commercialization; maintain an active role through ongoing communication with vendor and sourcing partners and product development resources to assure adherence to critical date schedules
- You can work independently and collaboratively within a team to drive solutions
- You have the ability to explain complex and difficult issues to senior leaders to drive appropriate decisions
- While all of the above bullet points are your primary responsibilities and accountabilities, as a member of a small team, you have the ability to "wear multiple hats" in order to solve problems across the category
- You have design, product development, and/or project management experience with demonstrated ability to manage conflicts
- You have 3-5 years of experience working design, development, and/or operations for a vertical retailer, footwear experience preferred
- You have experience working in an operations environment to drive continuous improvement
- You have the ability to act objectively and uncover facts
- You understand the complexities of the cross functional requirements to deliver product
- You are a clear, concise and confident communicator that lives to support the business
- You enjoy a fast pace environment and can create order from chaos
