Job Summary: Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home of SWLA is seeking an empathetic, passionate, and caring PLPC, LPC, LMSW, or LCSW to provide therapeutic treatment on site to clients ages 12-18 years of age. Clients have an average stay of 3-6 months, during which the therapist provides individual, family, and group therapy based on treatment plans written by the therapist in collaboration with the client and their guardians. While therapists can have a caseload of up to 8 youth, decisions are made using a treatment team, which is made up of multidisciplinary professionals, who collaborate to provide the best care possible for our clients. Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Ensure each resident on his or her caseload receives a minimum of three individual therapy sessions each week (a minimum weekly total of 120 minutes).
- Ensure each resident on his or her caseload receives a minimum of two group therapy sessions per week.
- Responsible for evaluating residents; formulating written individualized plans of care; providing active treatment measures; and engaging in discharge planning.
- Record residents progress as measured by objective indicators and making appropriate changes/modifications to the Master Treatment Plan as indicated.
- Serving as liaison between the resident, provider, family, and community during the resident’s admission to and residence in the facility, or while the resident is receiving services from the provider.
- Ensure the provision of compassionate, culturally sensitive services.
- Ensure the involvement of families whenever possible in treatment planning.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Must have a fundamental love for children and a desire to be an agent for change in their lives.
- Must have empathy for others and practice the Golden Rule in relationships with residents and their families, with fellow staff member and with others.
- Must be an active, eager learner and willing to try new methods.
- Must be a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP)
- Must possess a strong sense of personal authority, maturity and integrity for agency-wide leadership role.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in a diverse range of audiences and settings.
- Must be skilled in conflict resolution and mediation.
- Must possess strong leadership skills to promote staff unity, staff morale and cooperative relationships among various agency departments.
- Must use good social skills with residents, their family members and fellow staff members.
- Must protect the confidentiality of residents, their family members and all Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to commit to significant job responsibilities.
- Must be flexible and able to function in demanding position.
