Position Objective:
- Support the ongoing effort to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of business and personally identifiable information, including protected health information (PHI).
Essential Job Duties:
Audit and Compliance:
- Run predetermined security audit reports and identify possible violations.
- Receive, review, and respond to patient requests for restrictions and accounting of disclosures.
- Conduct privacy rounds at various Luminis Health locations to assess compliance.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of privacy issues and trends.
Investigation and Reporting:
- Document the investigation process and outcomes for potential privacy violations.
- Ensure timely reporting of privacy breaches to the Privacy Officer.
- Support large-scale breach incident notifications and report to the Department of Health and Human Services as required.
Training and Consultation:
- Assist with developing staff education on privacy-related matters.
- Provide technical advice and support to other departments on privacy issues.
- Prepare reports for the Luminis Health Privacy Committee.
Administrative:
- Manage the intake and tracking of privacy requests.
- Maintain the Privacy Office department page on the intranet.
- Participate in departmental and other meetings as requested.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of three years of experience in privacy.
- Associate degree or higher in a health-related field, Health Information Technology, Health Information Management, Legal, or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in federal and state healthcare rules and regulations, particularly HIPAA, MODPA, and MPIPA.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research, analytical, and time management skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Professional certification in privacy (e.g., CHPC, CHPS, CIPP, HCISPP) preferred.

- Able to view a monitor screen for extended periods.
- Able to lift 10-20 lbs unassisted.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination for various tasks.
- Ability to travel between locations as needed.
